Flounders supplied most of the action during the Lymington & District SFC Christmas Open, where Rory Lancaster from Lymington romped to victory with a trio of flatties weighing 4lb 3.5oz.
While Lancaster was winning the event the real highlight was a superb 3lb 3.75oz specimen flounder bagged by Graham Stewart. Not only did he collect the pools for the heaviest flatfish, but he also came third overall with the solitary flattie.
Nigel Shoat landed a 1lb 15.50oz bass to collect the pools for the heaviest round fish. The top junior on the day was seven-year-old Joe Chamberlain with an 11.5oz flounder, while the pairs section was won by Mike & Andy Dibben with a combined weight of 4lb 13oz.
The final Rovers Tackle midweek pegged catch and release fixture of the year was staged at Lee-on-the-Solent where dogfish, whiting, pout, bass and dabs supplied the action.
Chris Clark from Lymington won the total length category with 21 fish worth 497 points. The prize for the night's longest fish was won by John Delaney with a 58cm doggie.

A number of pollack put in a surprise appearance during the Boscombe & Southbourne SFC Christmas Open held between Boscombe Pier and Solent Road, where Alan Jones ran out a clear winner with four pollack weighing 3lb 4.5oz. He also collected the pools for the heaviest round fish with a pollack weighing 1lb 2oz and, just to round off a memorable day, he won the pairs event with Reg Clough from East Woodyates.
The pool for the heaviest flatfish was collected by Wayne Thompson with a 10oz sole.
The Hamworthy and Rockley sections were the setting for a Senior Flounder League fixture. Kevin Poole won the event with 4lb 4oz to scoop £80 and also added another £66 to his tally for the day's heaviest fish, weighing 2lb 3oz.
South Coast Tackle stage their Christmas Open on Monday. Fishing will be from 9am to 1.30pm. Tickets have been set at £5 plus a £2 pools. Details from South Coast Tackle 023 9255 0209.

There are several major open shore competitions coming up during the next few weeks, the Lymington club staging their annual flounder competition around the Lymington & Pennington sea wall on January 2.
Bournemouth & District SAA stage their open along the shores of Poole Harbour on January 16, while the Fords Sports 30th open beach festival will be held at Weston Shore along the eastern side of Southampton Water on January 23.
