New Milton schoolboy James Higgins is just back from the World Junior Golf Series in Torrey Pines in San Diego where he finished a commendable 32nd out of 8,000 original entries.
Two years ago Higgins was a 26 handicapper; now he's down to five and at 13 years old is the youngest player in the Hampshire under-18 squad. He is also one of only six junior golfers in the UK to receive Wilson Staff sponsorship.
Higgins is a Year 9 pupil at the Ballard School in New Milton. He competed in the under-14 division in the World Junior Series and actually got through the cut to the final day at Torrey Pines.
