SOUTHAMPTON port owner ABP has donated £500 to the Southampton branch of the Missions to Seafarers and £500 to Piam Brown Ward - the children's cancer ward - at Southampton General Hospital.
For the second year running, ABP sent traditional season's greetings in an e-card to customers and supporters of its 21 ports around the UK.
By sending an e-card, instead of the more conventional Christmas card, port director Andrew Kent said the money saved could be used for more worthy causes.
He added: "The Mission to Seafarers plays an active role in caring for thousands of seafarers who pass through the port each year. Piam Brown Ward supports not only the young patients on the ward, but also their families."
The Rev Michael Williams said: "This donation will go towards the current refurbishment works that are under way at the Southampton centre, which will be used by the many thousands of seafarers who pass through the port each year."
