Sir.-Attention all four-wheel off-road drivers, the council has, for your pleasure, created an "off-road" track while laying pipes along the road on Harrow Way.
I'm sure many drivers of ordinary cars will have noticed that from the Golden Lion pub to the Hackwood Road Roundabout, the recent roadworks have left the road as a total mess.
It would be interesting to see the reaction when car repair bills for suspension, and other wear from regular users of this route, are sent to the Civic Offices.
Perhaps next year's council tax hikes will cover the cost of resurfacing, or will they be along soon to dig it up again, like other roadworks in the past?
Come on Highways Department, have a look, get rid of the contractors, and give us something better to travel on.
-R Miles, Beecham Berry, Basingstoke.
Sir.-When are the council going to repair the repair that contractors carried out on the road between the Golden Lion and Hackwood Road Roundabout?
I think the new road surface has tested everybody's suspension to breaking point.
I, for one, am thinking of buying an off-road vehicle.
-David Harvey, Holbein Close, Black Dam.
