A PLANNED one-day strike tomorrow by about one-quarter of Southampton City Council's 40 car parking attendants has been called off.
Workers were due to down tools in protest at new hours which were set to be introduced by city transport chiefs.
Unions say that negotiations have delayed the introduction of the new working arrangements until March 2007.
Unison branch secretary at the council Mike Tucker said: "Management have made a revised proposal which needs further discussion.
"They have agreed to postpone for a further two years the change to seven day working, by which time most of the Unison members affected will have retired."
