The night's longest tie was at Portsmouth Road where VT FC were sunk 3-1 by Gosport Borough after extra-time.
Much to the amazement of VT boss Dave Diaper, the Boatmen collected nine bookings and had goalscorer Mike Spinney sent off towards the end of normal time for a second yellow.
Spinney gave VT a flying start, but Abs N'Doye levelled before John Cripps and Graham Lindsey fired Borough through in extra-time.
"We made hard work of it but, without making excuses, we had six out again tonight," reflected Gosport's assistant manager Gary Lee. "The players been dropping like flies."
VT have also been plagued by injury. Having used all three subs, they finished last night's tie with nine men after losing Ben Tyrrell to hamstring trouble.
