ANDOVER buzzed on Friday evening as the crowds poured onto the streets to celebrate the opening of the Time Ring in the High Street.
The Time Ring festival was designed to mark the completion of the long-awaited upgrade of the lower High Street including the mosaic Time Ring feature with 12 tableaux depicting scenes from this area's history - finished just a few days before at a cost of over £1 million.
The arguments over the scheme were put to one side on Friday as hundreds of people in the procession were watched by even more along the route.
The procession, led by a fire-breathing dragon, snaked from the leisure centre along Western Avenue through Bridge Street until it reached the centrepiece of the event - a specially erected stage in the High Street.
