SIAN Newland is now the only police officer who lives in a rural police house in this division and people still regard her home as an office where they can call in at any time.
She doesn't mind and if necessary will turn out when off duty if it is an emergency such as a road accident when she can be first on the scene.
Following the reorganisation of policing Sian is now the beat officer for Anna Valley, Goodworth and Upper Clatford, Longstock, Leckford and Wherwell.
"Burglary is the biggest problem because of the type of properties that we police," said Sian, who has been an officer in this area for the past 10 years following time previously spent in Southampton, Bitterne and Gosport.
"Perhaps as many as 80 per cent are moneyed and contain antiques and this beat is close to the A303 and A30 giving good access to London and other areas," she explained.
But she added: "Most of the problem is caused by people travelling into the villages and not by the people who live amongst us."
