M&T Awbridge suffered yet another 3-2 defeat on Saturday as they were bundled out of the Hants Intermediate Cup in extra-time by Portsmouth League pacesetters Co-op on Saturday.
This was another match where M&T had scoring chances in abundance but came out second best against opposition they would have hoped to have beaten.
This match was fairly even throughout with both sides holding the upper hand for periods, but it was M&T who created the more tangible chances.
Andy Claxton lobbed the keeper only to hit a post early on and then shot wide of an open goal from distance, the ball having come awkwardly to him above waist high.
Adam Barker went through but fell between the option of shooting for goal and squaring a pass to Claxton. The keeper smothered the ball as the M&T midfield player hesitated. Co-op hit the bar with a header from a left wing corner.
Alex Hoyle and Claxton combined to go clear on goal but then got in one another's way at the critical moment and the chance was lost.
Hoyle opened the scoring, though, after 35 minutes. Enterprising approach play opened things up and the M&T forward was in to give the keeper no chance.
Hoyle had another opportunity before half time, only to plant his shot a foot wide with only the keeper to beat. Co-op squared things seven minutes into the second half with a thumping ground shot across keeper Richard Blake and then took the lead five minutes later.
M&T battled back to equalise twenty minutes from time, Andy Claxton heading in from close range.
Adam Sherman and Hoyle both had opportunities but shot wide as M&T dominated the latter stages of normal time. Extra-time was played in increasing darkness.
Play was end-to-end throughout the additional time, Co-op netting the all important fifth goal four minutes from the end. The final touch came after an almighty scramble in the M&T area. There were chances to clear before the ball found the net to commit M&T to another odd-goal defeat.
