ORDNANCE Survey staff have been scrambling for a ticket to see TV survival specialist Ray Mears when he visits the Southampton based mapping giant later today.
Ray, a well known face from programmes such as World of Survival, Trips Money Can't Buy and The Real Heroes of Telemark, is a big fan of OS maps, which have helped him find his way all over the world.
Staff at the agency's Romsey Road HQ are clearly big fans of his in return. Bosses were deluged with applications from the 1,200 staff on site to see his talk and had to hold a draw for the 300 available places.
Ray, who has just returned from projects in Arctic Canada and the Democratic Republic of Congo, is to share his experiences on survival techniques and bushcraft with OS workers.
