DON'T mention the Waterside - not when promotion-chasing Locks Heath are in earshot anyway!
Just 72 hours after stumbling to a shock 2-1 defeat at bottom club Fawley, second-placed Locks Heath were thumped 4-1 by Hythe & Dibden on a quick return to the Waterside last night.
Paul Gutteridge opened the scoring for Hythe with a firm header from Danny Hosey's free kick before Roger Maynard got to the byeline and pulled the ball back for Andy Lonsdale to belt in a second after 25 minutes.
Ian Harvey chested the ball down to volley in Hythe's third before half-time and another rasping Harvey effort made it 4-0, with Steve Thomas bagging an 88th-minute consolation for the visitors.
Locks Heath boss Matt Parr said: "We've hit a bit of a bad run and were beaten by the better side."
Romsey Town move up into third place after three goals and three points wrapped up a 3-0 victory at Bishop's Waltham.
Top gun Simon De'Ath bagged their first after 20 minutes, Andy Kemp ended a great move with a fierce volley into the top corner on 37 minutes and Simon Woodley rounded off the scoring ten minutes from time.
"It wasn't pretty but it was a job well done," smiled Romsey boss Trevor Holmes.
Horndean haul themselves up into fifth spot after napping Hampshire Senior Cup quarter-finalists Stockbridge 5-1, Paul Baker (5), Ashley Howard (25, 55), James Searle (40) and James Shannon (44) doing the damage.
