THERE'S a lot of pride at stake when the best of Hampshire's professional golfers take on the assistants in the annual Jack Wells Challenge Match at Hockley next Tuesday.
Last year the teams couldn't be separated and the draw for next week's encounter has thrown up some interesting matches - one featuring former Ryder Cup star Steve Richardson.
The former World Cup winner, now teaching at Quindell, teams up with HPGA captain Guy Shoesmith team to take on Matt Tryhorn (Corhampton) and Simon Pink (Meon Valley).
Other matches include Rob Edwards and Eddie Rawlings against James Ablett and Steve Cowle and home professional Gary Stubbington, partnered by Brokenhurst's Bruce Parker, who take on Kevin Saunders and Jon Barnes.
The match begins at 9am and spectators are very welcome. It's the fifth time the match has been played in honour of one of HPGA's most popular secretaries, and Jack will be there to present the trophy to the winning captain.
