A NOISY and colourful event in Southampton raised awareness about recycling and encouraged shoppers to think before throwing out rubbish.
More than 30 people gathered near the city's Bargate on Saturday to create samba beats from items that would usually be taken away by the dustmen.
The event was organised by the Southampton Sustainability Forum, a voluntary group that raises awareness about environmental issues, including recycling.
The musicians used makeshift instruments including cardboard drums and tin can shakers, and were led by Southampton based samba band Bat2K.
