POLICE are hunting two men after a nightclubber was ambushed and brutally attacked in the early hours of Friday morning.

The victim - a 25-year-old man from Tidworth - was knocked out momentarily from a single blow suffered a broken cheek bone and broken right eye socket.

Andover police spokesman Alan Smith said the attack happened between 2am and 2.30am after the victim and his friend had left Club at Life. There was an altercation between two groups of men in Chick-o-land in Winchester Street, but a police officer intervened and told one man to move away while his friends got food.

But as he and his friends were about to meet up again in South Street near the overpass, two men jumped out at him. "He was pounced on by two men who appeared out of nowhere and one of these men struck the victim a very heavy blow to the face," said Mr Smith. "When he regained consciousness he, and those with him, saw these two men run away over the footbridge towards Safeway."

The man who struck out is described as being white, in his mid to late 20s and 5ft 8 to 5ft 10ins tall. He has short dark hair gelled on top. He was clean shaven and wearing a long-sleeved top. Anyone with information is asked to contact Dc Glen Curtis.
