Ryan Fee's hat-trick inspired Wellow's 5-1 win over City of Southampton Premier League rivals Cadnam at Hatches Farm.

But it was Luke Askham, returning after an eight-week injury lay-off, who opened Wellow's account.

His penetrative run into Cadnam's penalty area ended with him being fouled - but keeping his nerve and scoring from a twice taken penalty.

But Fee was not out of the limelight for long, making it 2-1 as Wellow stepped up the pressure.

Cadnam wasted a golden opportunity to get back into the game before half-time when they were awarded a penalty. But Jon Page produced a cat-like save to maintain Wellow's two-goal lead.

Sam Bennett took the midfield by the scruff of the neck after the break - his ability of orchestrating the engine room creating chances galore for Wellow.

It wasn't long before Wellow had a three-goal cushion - Fee rising above the Cadnam defence to score his second and Wellow's third following a neat move involving the inspirtational Bennett and Steve Carter.

To Cadnam's credit they competed for every ball and were unlucky not to score when they split the Wellow defence with a superb through ball.

Wellow's best goal came from a fluid passing move involving Joe Jacobs and the lively Andy Gradidge, who delivered the ball for Bennett to beat two players and fire a crisp low shot into the corner of the net.

Fee completed his hat-trick with an angled drive following intense pressure in the visitors penalty area, but despite his excellent defensive work, was unable to prevent Cadnam's consolation reply.

Wellow brought on substitutes Matt Cambell and Matt Taylor.

Both the long serving pair might have added to Wellow's nap hand.
