PROMOTION-CHASING Romsey Town reclaimed third place in the Division 2 table last night with an impressive 5-0 sinking of US Portsmouth at the By-Pass Ground.
Simon De'Ath - the division's leading goal-scorer - gave Romsey the lead after 20 minutes when he latched on to Andy Kemp's through ball and slotted past the advancing keeper.
The home side doubled their advantage just before half-time with a 15-yard effort by Dean Topliss before Paul Smith headed home a Simon Woodley free kick on 53 minutes to make it 3-0.
De'Ath took his season's tally to 19 by netting from Simon Geddes' pull back from the byeline after 58 minutes and Smith grabbed his second and Romsey's fifth on 70 minutes.
Blackfield & Langley striker Neil Williams joined De'Ath on 19 goals for the season after bagging a hat-trick in their 4-1 awayday derby victory at Fawley.
The Oilers stunned Blackfield by taking a tenth-minute lead through Shane Renyard, but Danny Mockeridge put the visitors back on terms after 25 minutes.
Williams then scored twice in as many minutes just after the interval before completing his treble with a neat chip over the home keeper seven minutes from time.
Horndean also registered a 4-1 win away at AFC Aldermaston. Paul Baker's free kick saw Adam Davey head Horndean in front after 25 minutes with Davey returning the compliment for Baker to score with a 30-yard shot ten minutes later.
James Searle added a third right on half-time and, although central defender Matt Tyler pulled one back for the home side, Ashley Howard rifled in a fourth from 22 yards in the 75th minute.
The Berkshire side finished the game with ten men after Andy Ramsden was sent off for violent conduct late on.
