TEENAGE thugs kicked a tent to pieces while four young Hamble Sea Scouts were camping inside.
The terrified youngsters, aged 11 and 12, managed to run for help and take shelter at the Scouts' nearby Hamble Lane headquarters. They escaped injury but were badly shaken by their ordeal.
Scout leader Eliot Easterby said he was disgusted by the behaviour of the louts who ruined the evening for the Scouts, who had been looking forward to their sleepover.
Mr Easterby said: "Their tent was urinated on and kicked to pieces with them inside. They ran for help, only catching glimpses of the group of boys and at least one girl."
The Scout leader described how he tried to chase the cowardly bullies but they taunted him before making off. Police were called to the scene and carried out a search of the area but were unable to trace the culprits.
Mr Easterby has put up posters appealing for information throughout the village. He wants anyone who might have information about the crime, or anyone who would like to make a donation, to ring 023 8045 4209.
