CANCELLED: Casino Royale, the Bond-style casino night due to be held last weekend at the village had to be cancelled.
The evening, set to be the smartest affair in the area, was under-subscribed by this time last week, so the organisers decided this was the best course of action.
The aim of the event was to raise funds for the maintenance of the village hall, which carries overheads of around £5,000 per year.
The organisers apologise for any inconvenience and hope to put on other events in the new year.

POST office blues: Mr J Boparai, who owns and runs the post office in Queens Road, has expressed concern over the new measures being brought in by Post Office Ltd.
In conversation with him recently, he revealed that the Post Office will be changing the way it remunerates the administrators of post office business in two years' time.
This means that he would only get paid for the business he transacts.
Fewer people are using the facilities of the post office these days, so there is a real risk that we will no longer have one at that time, if not before. If the post office goes, the shop will close.
As Mr Boparai said: "Use it, or lose it."
Residents have until December 1 to lodge their objections over the proposed closure with Post Office Ltd.
