STEVE WIGLEY'S position as head coach was looking precarious tonight as Saints could only manage a 2-2 St Mary's draw with Crystal Palace.
Saints twice came from behind in a dramatic second half but on the back of the defeat at Norwich did not get the three points they desperately needed.
After a stale first half the second period sprung into life when Andrew Johnson was twice denied by Kasey Keller in the opening seconds before heading Palace in front.
But the lead lasted only a minute with Kevin Phillips stealing in at the far post to equalise.
On 54 minutes, Palace restored their lead when Wayne Routledge's shot took a huge deflection off Andreas Jakobsson and flew in at the near post.
But Saints piled on the pressure and Jakobsson levelled it at 2-2 when he slid in and put the ball in the far corner with 14 minutes remaining.
The result left Saints having taken just five points from their crunch November and still in trouble near the bottom of the table.
