TEST Valley Borough Councillors have decided to double the administration fee for the issue of concessionary travel tokens.
The admin charge for the token will rise from £5 to £10 but will not fall on those over 60, on benefits or disabled people.
The charge was introduced in 1999 to stop people who had no intention of using the tokens, claiming them.
New legislation meant the scheme had to be extended to men aged between 60 and 65 and costs are expected to continue rising.
The overview and scrutiny committee had recommended an increase in the administration fee from £5 to £6 to bring in an extra £9,500 but this was not enough for Normal Arnell.
