IF IT'S musicals that make you buy a theatre ticket then you can indulge in a mega-mix of some of the greatest show numbers courtesy of Centrestage Productions Youth Theatre (CPYT).
The group, which is made up of local children and teenagers, is performing It's Nearly Christmas but not yet! - a one-night show at The Point in Eastleigh on Wednesday.
The show features a montage of musical performances from West End shows such as Starlight Express, Jesus Christ Superstar and Cats plus a one-act drama play.
One show you won't be hearing songs from is Les Miserables as CPYT are simultaneously rehearsing a full-scale production of this hit musical based around Parisian poverty and uprising, to be staged in February.
Director Pete Harding, who has been with CPYT since its inception 14 years ago says: "The Christmas event is a way of fundraising for the Les Mis production. We need thousands of pounds to stage the show at The Point as, along with excellent effects, we are aiming to have a revolving stage just as they do in the London version."
The group is still on the look out for young males between the ages of 14 and 19 to join the cast of Les Miserables. CPYT operate a free membership scheme for its performers to encourage children from all backgrounds to join. If you are interested in joining, contact Pete Harding on 023 8025 4491.
