MOTTISFONT comfortably overcome fellow Hampshire Leaguers Netley to gain a place in the last eight of the Southampton Senior Cup.
Two goals in each half sealed a good all round performance in a match that Font always looked favourites to win.
It took the visitors a quarter of an hour to make the breakthrough, which came directly from a Mike Burgess corner. Burgess has scored goals of this nature before, which underlines his quality of crosses.
Font added a second goal 15 minutes later when Ian Bradwell picked up a crossfield ball before shooting across the keeper to give the visitors a comfortable interval lead. While Netley contributed to an interesting match, the Font defence were in no mood to give much away.
When midfielder Nigel Cutler intercepted a poor home clearance to promptly return it to the back of the net from 25 yards out, Font seemed home and dry.
If there were any doubts, Alan Bundy settled them when his pace was too much for the home defence, and he lashed in goal number four.
This week, Mottisfont were due to play BTC Southampton, but they have withdrawn from the League. Font now have an away fixture against Portsmouth side East Lodge (kick off 2pm).
