Natasha Small won the overall Southern Region junior title at the recent championships held at Mayfield School, Portsmouth.

The competition attracted many British squad members from clubs in Wales, Bath, Brighton, London and Canterbury, who competed alongside girls from the host club, Portsmouth Rhythmic GC.

Natasha, from Chandler's Ford, claimed the highest score in the regional junior section and highest score overall in the southern region, claiming back the Frances Newman Trophy.

In the elite junior section, she obtained a silver medal for hoop, bronze for ribbon and clubs and fourth place for rope, finishing third overall.

Natasha is now training hard for the British championships on December 11th/12th.

Also from Chandler's Ford, Natalie Francis won the under 10 novice free section and came fourth with her hoop routine. She came second overall in the southern region championships, beaten by Ellis Tee from Southampton - who won the overall under 10 title and highest score title in that section.

Ellis also obtained silver medals for her hoop and free routine in the intermediate section. Courtney Jones from Portsmouth achieved bronze medal position in the under 10 Southern Region championship.

Southampton's Freya Tee was competing in the intermediate under 12 section with just ball as she has only been at the Portsmouth club since September. She achieved a silver medal for her ball and came second overall in the Southern Region under 12 section. She also won a trophy for the highest apparatus score in her section.

Sophie Varkonyi from Chandler's Ford also competed with ball winning bronze and finishing third overall.

The girls all train at the Portsmouth Rhythmic GC under coaches Jaquie Coombs, Carolyn Small and regional judge, Alex Algeries.
