Razorlight, Southampton Union, Southampton University.
With an album entitled Up All Night, there is great anticipation for a band to give a lasting and energetic performance, and even more so when that performance is broadcast live on Radio 1.
Prepared for this demand, Razorlight went straight for the jugular of Southampton University's Student Union and cut deep into the heart of the audience, forcing everyone to reach that harder beat that would rock them through every single second of the show.
Tracks including Golden Touch, Rock and Roll Lies and Stumble and Fall left the overwhelmed crowd gasping for more.
There was simply no way out and no time for anyone to recover as one energetic attack followed another, until the band had taken control of the entire audience body.
With lead singer Jonny Borrell even joining the crowd and being carried halfway through the hall packed with more than 1,000 fans, nobody could resist the rock. The audience was so involved in the performance that by the end, it was as if we were all saying goodbye to a new friend.
In a perfect rock world, every gig would be as good as this one.
