ALEX Danson shrugged off her troublesome shoulder injury to snatch a late winner against Doncaster and get Trojans off the mark in the EHA Women's Premier League.
The Farnborough teenager, who wasn't expected to play again until the New Year after dislocating her shoulder earlier this season, popped up two minutes from time to steal a crucial 3-2 win for the Stoneham girls.
The last-gasp win has lifted Trojans out of the immediate two-down danger zone, one point above Doncaster.
Trojans always had their noses in front, but Ali Wakefield's 12th-minute penalty flick was wiped out by Jo Ellis's penalty corner for Doncaster.
Just before half-time, a two-minute frenzy saw Jane Greenham restore Trojans' lead, only for Pippa Jones to immediately make it 2-2. Trojans seemed to be heading for just a share of the spoils, but Danson's late winner brought back the smiles.
Anne Vickerstaff tucked away two penalty corners to earn Southampton a battling 2-2 draw at Premier Division 3 rivals St Albans - but it wasn't enough to escape the bottom rung.
Kerry Moore and Joell Weston put St Albans 2-0 up on a frozen, snowy surface, but Vickerstaff earned Southampton their third point of the season.
Amy Sheehan made a promising debut for Southampton, who snatched a 4-3 extra-time win over City of Portsmouth in the Hants Cup first round.
Michelle Jacobs, Bex Day and Anne Vickerstaff scored for Southampton in normal time, with Jo Faulkner notching the golden goal winner.
