TOTTON motor cycle dealer Bernie Leigh is a long-time supporter of road racing and has contributed to the success of a local team in the popular North Gloucester Road Racing Club series.
The T-Sport road racing team were strong runners in both the Formula 400 and 600cc championships.
Peter Thompson has been racing for four years and has two Honda CBR400 bikes, one set up for fast, dry conditions, the other for slower, wetter meetings.
He won the North Gloucester F400 titles in 2002 and 2003 and, although still a regular top three finisher this summer, was unable to take the number of race wins he needed to retain the title.
However, some hard battling towards the end of the season and an exciting final meeting at Silverstone enabled Thompson to pick up enough points for third place overall.
Thompson also competed in the 400cc Four Stroke Championship and secured the title for the first time.
T-sport teammate Ian Allsop raced a Honda CBR600RR supplied by Bernie Leigh Motorcycles and finished fourth overall in the 600cc series.
The bike was new and Allsop was held back by early-season teething troubles.
However, as the year progressed, Allsop's results improved dramatically.
He won five qualifying races and in the closing races of the season was a regular top-three finisher in the finals themselves.
The team are now preparing for the 2005 season with Thompson and Allsop again competing at the North Gloucester events, which, in addition to Donington, Silverstone and Thuxton, take in rounds at Cadwell Park and Brands Hatch.
T Sport are supported by Bernie Leigh Motorcycles, Freestyle Signs, Newman Stallard, Jason Engineering, Carbon Specialities and Motofax.
