DICKENS' A Christmas Carol forms the basis of this musical by Malcolm Sircom.
The production involved 25 or so actors, most of whom played several of the 62 roles.
There was a mix of musical styles, from the conventional to rap and rock'n'roll.
A local band led the audience participation in a medley of carols and songs.
The latter took the form of a Victorian music hall with Margaret Brammell as a convincing chairman and the audience quickly playing their part.
Alan Catt (Ebenezer) warmed to his role as the production went on.
Some words were lost at times, but the enthusiasm of the cast carried all before it.
The set (Jan and Jerry Southerton, Graham Roberts) was sturdy and adaptable, and the lighting (Charles Haskell, Isaac Bennett) was used to good effect.
This was a show for local people by local people and it was a
privilege to share the occasion with them.
The next performances are on Friday and Saturday.
