SOUTHAMPTON golfer Dean Plant is selling shares in himself in a bid to get started on the UK tournament circuit.
Plant's three-year plan is to play the EuroProTour followed by the Challenge Tour then the lucrative European Tour.
The youngster, who has an attachment to the Botley Park Club, holds two course records back in his native Sussex where, at his home Willingdon course near Eastbourne, he staggered members by going round in 61 - twice.
Now the former Sussex county player is living in Redbridge with his girlfriend, former basketball star Shelley Steel.
After a good start on the pay-as-you-play EuroProTour last year, Plant had to abort his season through lack of funds.
Now he's hoping that a personal share scheme, which has been operated successfully by other golfers in the past, will get him on to the starting blocks.
The shares, at £1,000 each, come with a guarantee of a share out of the player's earnings after three years.
Plant himself will put 80 per cent of his winnings into his share account which he hopes will appeal to companies who can profit from brand advertising on the Sky-televised EuroProTour and Challenge Tour events as well as media publicity.
The 21-year-old three-times winner of the Willingdon Salver hopes to be able to contest US Satellite events like the Golden Bear Tour as well as try and pre-qualify for some of the bigger USPGA tournaments.
