THIS Eric Chappell comedy follows the ups and downs of deputy prime minister Philip Conway in his quest to be take the top job and achieve his "destiny".
As you would expect from the author of Rising Damp, this is a funny play full of comic opportunities.
Colin Davey played the drunken MP with finesse and treated the audience to a lovely moment when he explained how he had removed his glass eye. Angela Chappell and Tammy Burns both gave good supporting performances.
Lee Players made a valiant attempt with the demanding script and at times did well to covey the humour to the audience.
Overall however, the performance lacked colour and some of the characterisations were quite bland.
Changes in mood were not conveyed particularly well and opportunities to make the most of the humour were sometimes lost.
