A FULL house enjoyed this latest production of the Winchester Operatic Society.
The casting was first-class with excellent performances from the lead actors and the chorus. The set design helped transport the audience to the Indian territory, where farmers and ranchers are learning to live with one another.
Curly (Iain Steel) and Laurey (Katie Moffat) are lovers trying to bridge the gap also, but Jud (Clive Burgess) acts as a barrier to all going smoothly.
The show had quite a few nice, innovative touches including cast members calling to Aunt Eller (Liz Petley-Jones) from the audience at the start of the production.
The choreography was particularly effective, thanks to the efforts of Ado Annie (Suzanne Hall) who had the double role.
The last scene was dimly lit for the title song, although brighter for the finale of the show. Musical support was ably provided by the orchestra under conductor Derek Beck.
