CELEBRATIONS will soon be under way to mark the 10th anniversary of the Active Options rehabilitation scheme.

The project, which helps local people who have suffered heart attacks, strokes, have low cholesterol or just need help to improve their poor heath, was ten years old yesterday.

The Sheriff of Southampton, Councillor Edwina Cooke, is hosting the party in the Mayor's Parlour to formally thank staff involved with the scheme for the work they have done to help local people regain their health through exercise.

Active Options was first

introduced at St Mary's Leisure Centre in St Mary's Road, Southampton, in 1994, and has since grown into one of the most prolific exercise schemes in the country.

Councillor Cooke said: "Although Friday's presentation is celebrating the success of ten very special members, Active Options has improved the health of thousands of residents in Southampton."
