SOLENT Stars host a double bill tonight when they meet PAWS London Capitals in both senior women's and men's matches at Fleming Park Leisure Centre (6pm and 8pm).
For the women's team it will be a first appearance at Fleming Park as they begin their home campaign in National Division 1.
Having lifted the Division 2 title last season and also their section of early season matches this year to gain a place in the top flight, Michael Ball's team are keen to get off to a successful start.
The omens are good because they recently defeated PAWS at home in the National Cup. However, the visitors were without their England women's team coach, Brani Bazani, who had been banned for one game.
It will also be a first chance for the Fleming Park faithful to see Maria Tobar, Solent's new Ecuadorian import.
The senior men have another difficult fixture. A week ago, the PAWS men's team were one of the three teams below them in the league.
However Solent's loss at unbeaten London United last week and an unexpected home win by PAWS over leaders Reading - where they restricted the visitors to just 56 points - has sent a strong warning to the Stars.
Coach Alan Cunningham was pleased to see his team post more points last week (88) and hopes it will encourage them to attack the basket more.
Part of Solent's resurgence was the 26 points picked up by captain Mark Jackson.
Solent's second men's team return to league action with a home game at Hamble Community Sports College this afternoon (3pm) against South Notts College.
