ALTO saxophonist Martin Speake is regarded as one of the most creative musicians on the contemporary jazz scene, often working across musical boundaries.
He will be in The Forge at The Anvil on November 24 with two of the best exponents of Indian classical music in the country.
This cross-cultural trio (pictured above) features Dharambir Singh on sitar and Sarvar Sabri on tabla, performing Speake's own compositions based on North Indian ragas in a contemporary jazz setting.
The improvised acoustic music is not only exciting to listen to but also fascinating to watch.
Martin Speake's Trishul first performed together at the University of Rome in 2000 and have performed at some of the UK's finest festivals, including the Appleby and Chester Jazz Festivals.
Tickets, priced at £12.50, concessions £9.50, are available from the box office on 01256 844244, the website www.theanvil.org.uk or the ticket fax 01256 366900.
