Micheldever are fast establishing themselves as the Wessex League's draw specialists - Saturday's draw at Netley was their eighth in sixteen league games.
There's no doubt that Dever are a hard team to beat - they've only lost twice all season - but their inability to take wins from games in which they are the dominant force looks like costing them the chance of a serious tilt at the championship. Saturday was a case in point. On a sub-standard pitch the visitors had more than their share of the play throughout, but missed plenty of chances. In the first half Nick Holmes shot wide when clean through, while Mark Green's effort after he twisted free on the edge of the box met the same fate. To add insult to injury Netley took the lead with virtually their only chance of the first half, Paul Myburgh's header drifting over Scott Tarran and into the top corner. Dever equalised right at the end of the first half, Green slotting home a penalty awarded for a foul. The second half was rather scrappy with few chances aand neither side really dominating. Netley had the ball in the net from a corner, but that was ruled out on the say-so of the linesman, who spotted that the ball had curved out of and back into play. Dever's best chance came five minutes from time when Green had a header tipped over the bar - and that was about it, really. At least Dever's injury problems have eased somewhat. Andy Edwards has gone down with knee damage and Tony Brierley has a groin strain, but Mark Wilkinson has recovered from a knock he took in Sunday football and is expected to be fit for Saturday's trip to Paulsgrove.
