TENNIS players from 14 different countries took part in the 2002 Eastleigh Open Junior Tournament.
The high-quality field attracted a large number of spectators and the only thing that went wrong in the tournament, held on the courts of Hampshire Tennis and Health Club, was the weather.
Fortunately, the club had enough indoor courts for the tournament to carry on regardless.
Outstanding performances came from Craig Veal, from Netley Abbey, who won both 12-and-under boys singles and doubles (with near neighbour James Connelly), and Kate Russo from Henfeild, West Sussex, who won 16-and-under and 14-and-under girls singles.
Both look stars in the making.
