Andover Swimming Club has joined the Wey Valley Junior B League, with races run to a time limit with "speeding tickets".
During the recent five-team gala the local swimmers gained two first, nine second and two third places as well as being penalised for going too fast on three occasions, posting 10 individual and 37 relay personal bests.
In the U10 4 x 25m relays, Kathryn McEwen, Victoria James, Jemma Harrop and Bethan Southwood came second in their freestyle and medley races with all four girls posting PB times.
For the boys, Matthew McEwen and the Hunt triplets, Thomas, Samuel and Matthew, gained third place in their freestyle race, with PBs for Thomas and Matthew Hunt. Evan Martin replaced Matthew McEwen in the 8x25m race in which they also finished in second place with PBs coming from Evan, Samuel and Matthew.
The U11s, U12s and U13s all swam well but the mixed U14 team of Samantha Crosby, Lauren Webb, James McEwen and Jack Bayliss who had most success, coming second in the freestyle and medley events, with PBs from Samantha and James.
Harriet Southwood posted a PB of 49.42 secs to come third in the girls' U11 50m backstroke, a position repeated by Kathryn in her 50m breaststroke event with a PB of 57.42 secs. Matthew McEwen went one better to come second in the boys' 50m breaststroke.
In the U12 group, Victoria Horsefield pulled out all the stops to come second in the girls' 50m freestyle event while in the U13s, Michelle Roberts went one better by winning the girls' 50m butterfly, and for the boys Patrick Allen-Walker swam splendidly to come second in his 50m butterfly and breaststroke races.
In the U14 group Samantha went too fast in her 50m freestyle and butterfly races when posting new PB times of 34.73 and 41.26secs, but James gained points with a PB of 32.45 secs for second place in the boys' 50m freestyle event with Jack going one to win the 50m breaststroke race with a new PB of 42.92 secs.
During the evening individual PBs were also posted by Chad Evans, Jemma Harrop and Victoria Horsefield with relay let PBs coming from Evan Martin, Matthew Hurst, Paige Bayliss, Jessica Lovelock, Phillip Murray and Lauren Webb.
