SMANNELL teenager Ben Hay has become the first junior ever to record a hole in one on the Hampshire Golf Club course and the first person ever to record a hole in one in a club championship match.
Ben, a 16-year-old former pupil of the Clere School in Burghclere, only took up the sport two years ago.
Over the course of the two-day competition, he returned a combined gross score over 36 holes of 160 making him runner-up in the net championship competition.
He will be studying A levels at Queen Mary's College, Basingstoke in September.
Ben's father Richard runs the juniors section at the Hampshire Golf Club.
