SOME had never turned on a computer before, let alone surfed the Net.
Now they are in the full flow of the technological age thanks to Eastleigh Housing Association (EHA)
The organisation is providing free IT training for its residents who are taking advantage of the course at Bursledon's Pilands Wood Centre covering basic computer and Internet skills.
Run by Eastleigh's Barton Peveril College, in partnership with the essential skills support unit, it has proved to be a great success.
Resident Peter Vaggess from Hamble said: "The training has been interesting and enjoyable.
"I have been impressed with the support received while learning about sending e-mails and searching for items on the Internet.
"It is a great chance to meet other people and it makes you think and keeps you on the ball."
Patrick Fowler, EHA's neighbourhoods manager, said: "We are delighted with the feedback received from residents and are hoping to organise more training in subjects such as the Internet, e-mail, word-processing and spreadsheets."
EHA residents who would like to find out more, should ring 023 8068 4337.
