SILVER remains the most popular colour ordered on every new model in Rover's extensive line-up - from the CityRover to the attractive 75.
Royal Blue and the new Firefrost Red pearlescent are close behind.
But for customers who prefer to express their individuality and specially tailor their MG or Rover car, the company's Monogram Bespoke Build programme is now viewable with a specially-created CD, available from MG Rover dealerships, that permits individuals to create and specify the precise car they desire on computer.
Using the very latest software technology and running on Windows XP, the CD can illustrate the effects of all the 50 colour schemes available and view it on a selected car, turning through 360 degrees.
This is particularly useful for illustration and to see the full potential of the sophisticated monogram flip paint treatments, most notably the chromescent paints like Moonshine, with its iridescent holographic paint effect.
The monogram facility has been very popular, with several thousand satisfied customers.
The program permits individuals to personalise their cars from a broad range of special colours, a wide selection of interior trim colours and fabrics, and a variety of individual features not normally available as part of a manufacturer's specification.
Most popular have been the exclusive exterior body colours, with a range of 24 paint finishes in addition to the extensive standard colour palette and duo-tone effects on the large Rover cars.
From the sophisticated Chatsworth to the outrageous Bittersweet, the 2004 monogram range takes freedom of expression to new limits.
Prices for special paint finishes range from £650 to £2,500.
MG Rover Group's Monogram Bespoke Build programme was created to allow customers to specify features not normally available as part of a manufacturer's specification.
Carrying the personalisation theme through to the interior, a wide range of leather and Alcantara interior trims are available for selection.
Add to this the ability to use the personal line option to colour-key the car's fascia, steering wheel, door casings and other interior components, and bespoke build reaches new heights.
Colour-keyed Alcantara door casing inserts and alternative fascia finishes are also available to complete the interior integration.
Chromescent colours use extremely high concentrations of pigment to deliver dramatic colour shift or holographic paint effects.
Chromactive colours contain multi-layered pigment flakes with special reflective qualities.
Kinetic colours demonstrate a subtle multi-layer colour effect.
Supertallic is a range of distinctive metallics, and micatallics for a pearlescent effect
