Pompey manager Harry Redknapp insists he does NOT have a problem with the appointment of Velimir Zajec as executive director.
Redknapp had been at loggerheads with chairman Milan Mandaric over the latter's insistence on bringing in a director of football.
Redknapp made no secret of his reluctance to work within a continental structure of that sort but a compromise seems to have been reached, with former Panathinaikos director of football Zajec coming in as executive director.
"I have had two good meetings with the chairman and he has laid out exactly what he wants the chap (Zajec) to do," Redknapp said last night.
"As I have said all along, I am the manager and it doesn't interfere with anything I do as a manager.
"I am still in total control of the football, and if I hadn't have been then obviously the whole situation would have been different."
Redknapp outlined Zajec's role as he understands it, adding: "He's going to help set up academies for the kids, which is important for the club, and look to improve our foreign scouting system, which is also important for us. We don't have any scouting system abroad.
"If he can come in and be a help in that respect it is not a problem."
Redknapp, meanwhile, could have just one senior striker available for this weekend's home match with Man City.
Both top scorer Yakubu and Lomana LuaLua were hurt in Saturday's defeat at St Mary's.
Yakubu limped off eight minutes before half-time with medial ligament damage in a knee while LuaLua suffered recurrence of a groin injury.
Yakubu's injury is similar to the one that has sidelined co-striker Diomansy Kamara until Christmas.
That could leave Ricardo Fuller as Pompey's only recognized senior front-man.
Vincent Pericard suffered cruciate knee ligament damage making his comeback after a year out last month and has been sidelined for at least another nine months.
