Nutritionist Barbara Cox has set up a business to promote healthy eating. Kate Thompson reports...
A HEALTHY new way of eating, delivered straight to your home is heading for Southampton.
Detox-to-your-door is the brainchild of nutritionist Barbara Cox, pictured, and she is living proof of the benefits of a healthy diet.
The diminuitive eating expert, pictured, positively fizzes with energy and is keen to prove to others that a proper, balanced diet can radically change how you look and feel.
As well as the chance to lose weight, the detox plan gives the opportunity to cleanse and nourish your body - and raise your energy levels in the process.
"The impact a nutritious, balanced diet can have on your everyday lives can be amazing - and almost instantaneous - which is why I'm so passionate about bringing the benefits to everybody's door," she said.
A stint living in Japan made Barbara and her husband David re-evaluate what they were eating.
Until that time they had indulged in the odd take-away and relied on processed food as the basis for their diet.
"There's no such thing really as processed food in Japan. I used to teach English and trade lessons with a famous chef. She wanted to learn English and I wanted to learn how to cook.
"She taught me to roll sushi and make miso soups. Most importantly she taught me to cook with seasonal foods," she said.
Now Barbara is applying the principles she learned in Japan to her detox-to-your-door business.
She has enlisted the help of award winning chef Robert Colmer to create meals that are wheat free, dairy free and low in fat, salt and sugar.
For £12 a day Barbara will arrange for your breakfast, lunch and dinner to be delivered to your home.
"We wanted to take the hassle out of eating a healthy diet. The food is freshly prepared and delivered to you daily.
"And the beauty of it is that you can try new foods and flavours," said Barbara.
The Dorset based business has just expanded it's delivery area to include Southampton. For more details call 01202 748400 or visit: www.detox-to-your-door.co.uk
