The Thrills, Southampton Guildhall
THE Thrills are a great singles band.
But when it comes to the albums there seems to be more filler than killer tracks.
So when it came to the chance to see them live it wasn't clear what we were going to get.
Despite the rather poor sound balance at Southampton Guildhall, resulting in muffled vocals, they proved themselves to be one of the better indie disco floor-fillers around.
Even the more easy-listening songs were given some extra oomph in front of a crowd that carried the band on to greater heights.
The recent hit Whatever Happened to Corey Haim stood out as one of the best indie songs of the year.
But the best thing about the night wasn't the songs so much as the band's interaction with the crowd - which included getting three audience members up on stage for the finale.
The Thrills may not do exactly what it says on the label - but they come pretty close.
