FORMER boxing champion Michael Watson will visit Andover on Thursday for the official opening of Testway Housing's WISE home.
The show house in Blake Court, Artists Way, is equipped with the latest technology enabling disabled, elderly or other vulnerable people to live in their own homes.
Michael Watson, who lives with injuries sustained in a fight against Chris Eubank in 1991, will talk first-hand about the importance of helping people to live independently at home. The WISE home system uses sensors to monitor for potentially dangerous situations, such as floods, fire, gas leaks, falls and intruders, and links to a 24-hour response centre.
Testway Housing plans to make the system available to both its tenants and other residents across the Test Valley. Michael Watson is better known now than he was when he was fighting.
