A SCHEME to build a six-storey block of flats at Ocean Village in Southampton has been given the go-ahead by city planning bosses.
The project will see almost 90 flats built on land at Canute Road and Royal Crescent Road in one of the city's major regeneration sites.
The ground floor of the 17.5-metre building will be used for two restaurants, with underground parking provided for 71 vehicles.
The six-storey building will have a further two storeys set back from the roofline of the main development, which will be around 21 metres high at its highest point.
The site is currently occupied by warehouse buildings dating from the 1960s, which will be demolished when construction work starts.
Nine three-bedroomed homes and two studio units will be included in the development, which will have a further 76 two-bedroomed flats.
The scheme also makes provision for 99 secure bike storage spaces across the basement and ground floor of the building.
Each residential unit of the prestigious development will also have an external balcony.
No objections were lodged with city planning bosses about the development, which was supported by the City of Southampton Society - provided materials used to construct the building were of a high quality.
