AFC Totton were 1-0 victors at relegation favourites Downton, who are still point-less and winless after 15 attempts.
Stags' winner was slotted home by Mark Osman after Steve Whitcher had headed on Stuart Salter's pass.
Totton boss Stuart Ritchie reflected: "We looked a bit tired and jaded against a Downton side who worked very hard. We should have been three up by half-time, but we didn't put the chances away and that's been the story of the season."
Matty Monk, Totton's new teenage midfielder from Winchester City, has signed a two-year contract at Testwood Park. "He's got a lot of class, he's going to be special," said Ritchie. "We're trying to bring the young lads on."
