JUSTIN Rose was left counting the cost of what he described as "a tragic finish" to the recent Chrysler Championship.
The Hampshire star played the last five holes in five over par, including a triple bogey seven at the 16th, to slip from tenth to 30th place.
It summed up a frustrating season for Rose in which there was promise aplenty but no end product.
Even so his decision to play most of the summer in the USA was vindicated by four top ten finishes to earn him over a 1.2 million dollars for 62nd place in the USPGA order of merit.
Rose, who plans to stay over in the USA until next May, closes 2004 with an appearance in the Casio World Open in Japan on November 25.
