Sir.-Remember, remember the Fifth of November, when animals are in for a fright.
Fireworks that fill the night skies with explosions of colour and noise terrify our feathered and furry friends.
Animals are often spooked by the loud bangs, so keep your pets inside and make sure doors and windows are closed in case they try to run away. Put on the TV or some music to drown out the noise and if they tuck themselves away, don't disturb them as this could frighten them more.
Don't forget animals in hutches in the garden - bring them inside, until the fireworks are over. If this is not possible, cover their hutch with a thick blanket to muffle the sound.
Please consider going to an organised display rather than letting off fireworks in your garden. But if you do have a display at home, buy low-noise fireworks and let them off as early as possible.
