PUPILS at an Eastleigh school took a step back in time as part of a historical week.
Youngsters at Eastleigh's Norwood School discovered how things were done the old-fashioned way while turning back the pages of the history books.
The week has included trawling through logbooks which registered the corporal punishment inflicted at the school from the 1870s until its abolition.
There was also a history lesson from archaeologist and part-time soldier John Smith. To support the historical week artefacts and costumes were hired from Hampshire County Council's wardrobe to give children the chance of having a hands-on approach to the exploring the past.
Year Six designed a history trail and the Norwood scholars were also able to learn some traditional hymns.
