COUNCILLOR resigns: Ellisfield Parish Council reluctantly accepted Peter Mitchell's resignation at its meeting last Monday.
Peter has served for two terms on the council, most recently being elected after the May 2003 fiasco, and previously as chairman.
Present councillors joined current chairman Paul Turner in thanking Peter for his valuable contributions over the years.
He will be missed.
LINES 'n' signs: Peter Eade, assistant chief engineer for Hampshire Highways, and Ian Weatherall, Mr Lance's successor, came along to the parish council meeting.
"Lines and signs are our job," said Mr Eade, whose advice about introducing any traffic-calming measures is to research thoroughly, consult widely and progress slowly.
TRAFFIC measurement: Good news. Specialised equipment provided by Hampshire County Council is to be installed for a week on Axford Road, date as yet unknown, to measure the volume and speed of traffic.
ROAD sweeping: Furzen Lane, Fuzzy Lane, Scuzzy Lane - whatever you call it, well-swept it isn't.
The council's big sweeper can't get down it and the little sweeper which can, can't sweep the middle of the road, which supports a great variety of plant life.
However, the council is on the case - researching and consulting, so watch this space.
FOUND! Clerk Jacqui Matthews reported to the council that a resident who requested a visit from Hantsdoc was told they didn't know where Ellisfield was, not having GPS (global positioning satellite).
The good news is that when Jacqui phoned Hantsdoc the next day to check, they had managed to locate us.
