TOTTONIANS sides held a minute's silence at the weekend in memory of popular clubman Roger Bingham, writes Clive Downton.
The 36-year-old died last week after a long battle against cancer.
He joined Totts from London-based side Grasshoppers some seven years ago and played hooker for the vets and occasionally turned out for the second and third XVs.
Roger also worked as a freelance writer for the Daily Echo for some time, supplying copy - mainly swimming and triathlon - for the sports pages.
Chairman Paul Searle said: "Despite all he had been through, I never heard Roger moan once. He was always upbeat and enjoyed the challenges life brought him - a true rugby player and follower.
A service will be held at St Johns Church, Hythe at 3.15pm tomorrow.
